An official/source reference is linked below. Programme rules and registration windows can change.

Benazir Taleemi Wazaif is the education-linked cash support programme of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). It is designed for children of active BISP Kafaalat beneficiary families and provides quarterly education stipends from primary to higher secondary level.

The programme is not a general scholarship open to every student in Pakistan. A child must belong to an eligible BISP beneficiary family, meet the age requirement for the relevant education level, be enrolled in a school or college, and maintain the attendance requirement set by BISP.

Benazir Taleemi Wazaif stipend amounts

BISP publishes different quarterly stipend rates for boys and girls. Girls receive a slightly higher amount as part of the programme’s effort to encourage female education.

  • Primary level: Rs 1,500 per quarter for a boy and Rs 2,000 for a girl.
  • Secondary level: Rs 2,500 per quarter for a boy and Rs 3,000 for a girl.
  • Higher secondary level: Rs 3,500 per quarter for a boy and Rs 4,000 for a girl.
  • Girls’ primary graduation bonus: A one-time Rs 3,000 bonus is part of the programme for girls completing primary education.

These payments are conditional education stipends. A child must continue meeting the programme requirements for payments to continue.

Who can enroll in Taleemi Wazaif?

The child must be linked to an active BISP Kafaalat beneficiary. BISP also sets age bands according to the level of education:

  • Primary education: 4 to 12 years.
  • Secondary education: 8 to 18 years.
  • Higher secondary education: 13 to 22 years.

The age range does not mean that every child within that age is automatically eligible. School enrollment, family BISP status and verification are also required.

The 70% attendance rule

BISP requires at least 70% school attendance for a child to continue receiving Taleemi Wazaif. This is one of the most important conditions of the programme.

Parents should therefore treat attendance as a payment condition, not only a school requirement. If a child is enrolled but does not maintain the required attendance, the education stipend can be affected.

Documents needed for enrollment

The official BISP programme information lists the following key documents for enrollment:

  • CNIC of the BISP beneficiary mother or guardian.
  • Child’s B-Form / Child Registration Certificate (CRC) issued by NADRA.
  • School or college admission slip showing the child’s class and institution information.

The child’s B-Form details should be accurate and readable because the programme relies on identity and family linkage verification. Parents should correct NADRA records first if there is a serious mismatch in the child’s name, parent details or date of birth.

How to enroll a child in Benazir Taleemi Wazaif

Enrollment is completed through BISP’s programme process rather than through an unofficial website. A beneficiary should take the required documents to the relevant BISP enrollment point, Tehsil Office or facility being used for Taleemi Wazaif registration in the area.

  1. Confirm that the mother/household is an active BISP Kafaalat beneficiary.
  2. Make sure the child has a valid NADRA B-Form / CRC.
  3. Obtain the school or college admission information for the child.
  4. Visit the relevant BISP office or enrollment facility with the documents.
  5. Complete child enrollment and school verification.
  6. Make sure the child continues attending school and maintains at least 70% attendance.

Can Taleemi Wazaif be registered only through 8171?

The 8171 portal is useful for checking BISP household eligibility, but Taleemi Wazaif enrollment also requires child and school information. Parents should not assume that entering a CNIC on 8171 automatically registers a child for the education stipend.

If the household is not currently eligible under BISP, the family may need to deal with BISP/NSER registration or re-survey first.

What if the family is asked for a BISP re-survey?

BISP has moved household registration and updating towards Dynamic Registry Centres at Tehsil level. Families that are asked to complete a re-survey should do so through BISP’s official system. A family’s Kafaalat status can affect linked programmes such as Taleemi Wazaif.

BISP has repeatedly stated that its survey is free. Do not pay an agent for survey registration or for adding a child to the programme.

How are Taleemi Wazaif payments connected to BISP?

The education stipend is linked to the eligible beneficiary family. Payment timing can depend on verification, school attendance data and BISP’s payment cycle. Parents should not rely on social media claims giving a payment date for every district unless BISP has announced it.

What if a child’s payment stops?

A stopped or missing stipend can have several possible causes, including attendance, school verification, family eligibility or record issues. The parent should first check the BISP household status and then contact the relevant BISP office if the education stipend remains unresolved.

For complaints, beneficiaries can contact the BISP helpline at 0800-26477 or visit the nearest BISP Tehsil Office.

Important fraud precautions

  • BISP says official programme SMS messages come from 8171.
  • Do not pay anyone to enroll a child in Taleemi Wazaif.
  • Do not share OTPs, PINs or personal payment information with an unknown person.
  • Do not hand over the original CNIC or child’s B-Form to an unauthorised agent.
